How Nana's Kitchen & Hot Sauces began...
With Nasim's talent in production and management and Shelina's expertise in business and marketing, both sisters opened their doors to Nana's in 2000 out of a 700 sq ft restaurant in Burnaby B.C., which was eventually converted solely into a plant to manufacture their sauces. Both sisters worked diligently, beating the bushes for exposure. Nasim used her creativity and knowledge to build their product line while Shelina focused on marketing their growing line of products. It didn't take long for their secret Pili Pili sauce to begin flying off of the shelves and into people's shopping carts.
A new dimension to ethnic cuisine
With Nana's launched, both sisters spent the next few years growing their business by expanding their offerings. Throughout their history, they always continued to maintain their superior standard for customer satisfaction. Further growth eventually necessitated a move and in 2001, they re-located into a 1500 sq ft manufacturing plant. This move enabled both sisters to continue to maintain the high standards for customer satisfaction that they had established thus far. After having grown this large, Nasim and Shelina's hard work started to pay off handsomely and they began supplying their products to prestigious hotels, cafeterias and to some of the larger grocery chain stores.

"Our vision has always been to create authentic gourmet products that are in line with African and Indian origins. Quality and budget have always been in mind when developing our gourmet food items," says Shelina. After having done extensive research, Nasim and Shelina realized that there was an untapped niche available for these products. The varied and cosmopolitan nature of Canadian cuisine has been instrumental in helping both sisters realize their dream.

Today, Nana's is operating out of a facility larger than 16,000 Sq.ft, which they took over in 2008. The company employs over 32 full-time staff. Nana's is a now a CFIA Registered and HACCP certified plant. Nana's strives to hire only those people who have the passion, zest and drive needed to maintain the company's high expectations and standards.
